Available at Target

I needed a new coat for winter. Not a super warm coat, as I have one already, but a lightweight dressy coat which will still keep me relatively warm. I was actually looking for a red coat and almost bought one at Nordstrom’s Rack (the outlet store) for 80 bucks, but its pockets were fake! Where am I to put my gloves if the pockets are fake? Later that night, I ran up to Target for some eggs and I saw this. It is in red (and several other great colors) as well, but I fell in love with the pink. Best part? $40! Half the cost of the one at Nordstrom’s!

I was on a roll at Target last night, because I found this on the clearance rack! It’s the perfect lightweight, dressy coat and I think it could double as a raincoat as well. I picked black, but  there was also red, blue, and a great jeweltone green. I found it for $19.99. Beware! As of today, it was still full price ($39.99) on the website, so go into the store if you want to save 1/2 your clams!

I decided to do something completely unexpected and probably out of character for me. I dyed my hair blue black and bought colored hair extensions! I was tempted to get the bubblegum color on the left, but in the end went with Red Hots, an intense red color.

These hair extensions are made with 100% human hair, so they can be heat styled, which is really important for properly blending them into your own hair. Plus, the clip means they are temporary, so I can take them out as necessary. They were a great deal at only $8.95 per extension. I bought 4 to make peek-a-boo highlights and it cost less than $40!

Pictures and possibly a how-to video to come soon!

I am very excited about the latest trends for fall! Fashion this year is edgy and all about expressing your own personal style. Some great trends to look forward to this season are:

  • metallics, fabric and accents
  • off the shoulder
  • sumptous, flowy fabrics
  • sheer mesh
  • black
  • over the knee boots
  • brights, especially yellow and red
  • white
  • embellishments, sequins and pearls

What am I excited about? Well, I love off the shoulder looks and have been wearing them for years. I love black as well as bright colors. I am so glad that the “no white after labor day” taboo is finally being broken by people other than me. And over the knee boots? Please, please let this not be a joke! I love over the knee boots but the only ones I could find in previous years were designed with strippers in mind. Now, the fashion gods are saying, “Yes! We love over the knee boots!”  They will be easier to find, cheaper,  won’t have a 6 inch platform, and no one will offer me a “ride” and ask if I charge by the hour or service. Hurray!

I have found some great on-trend fashions at even better prices at some of my favorite stores. Click here to see them!

I’ve had a few emails from women wondering what shade of foundation they should buy for their skintone. This is extremely difficult for me to do via email, but I came up with a video that should help you when you go to select your own shade. Hope it helps! Click here to go to the video page.

I was able to reupload the videos, so all the links should be working now. The quality is still not 100% what I would like, but that has much to do with my camera. It’s only a digital camera that has a video function, so it’s not designed for HD – professional quality cinematography. Oh well!

The Basic Makeup Application video is still a little crummy, but that is because it is so long that condensing it to where I could upload it left it at a poorer quality than the other videos. I apologize. I will probably redo the whole thing and try not to be as long winded.

Let me know if any of the links don’t work. I checked them all, but I might have missed one without realizing it.

I learned my lesson! Watching my videos on my computer just doesn’t cut it! Today, I watched them on the internet only to find, to my dismay, that I saved them at too low a quality. They are horrible!

And of course, I didn’t save the final cut on my movie maker, so I have to re-edit and re-publish all of them! Lesson learned!

I am currently in the process of re-editing, re-saving, and re-uploading all my video tutorials. The links to the previous videos are not currently working, as I removed them all.

I am sooo sorry, but this is my first blog and I am still learning! I’ll post when I have them up and running. Hopefully, they will be much better quality.

I recorded another video tutorial! This time, it is liquid foundation application.

Liquid foundation doesn’t need to be hard or a chore. With the right tools and a little practice, foundation goes on quickly and smoothly and does an excellent job blending out minor imperfections and evening skin tone. If done correctly, no one will even be able to tell that you are wearing foundation!

You can get to the tutorial by clicking here.

I hope my video helps! As always, you may email me here with any questions. Comments are always welcome on my pages.

Yea! I have posted a new page with a video tutorial for a basic makeup application technique. This technique is how I usually apply my own makeup about 90% of the time. It’s fast and easy to learn with a little practice.

Watching my very first video, it suddenly became apparent to me why I am not, nor ever will be an actress. Eeks! I’ll stick to still photos, thank you very much! In my defense, I don’t have a real video camera. I used my $80 digital camera on the video setting (and my batteries died part way through the video. Can you tell which part? Haha!) Additionally, I don’t have a studio in my house (who does?) so the lighting is not so great. Plus, it was humid and I was having a bad hair day. Luckily, I love my crazy hair, even when it’s frizzy!

So why post a video at all? Because it’s easier to see where to touch down with your brush and how to blend in live action than it is with still shots. I’ve read fashion magazines, I know how they say, “blend into the corner of your eye…” Umm, ok?!? How far do I go? Where exactly is the corner? What does “lifting at the end” mean anyway? (Yeah, Smashbox told me that one, I still haven’t figured it out.)
